What Documents Do You Need to Apply?
To apply for Mecklenburg County’s free MECK Pre-K progdram, you’ll need specific documents and information. This includes a valid email address and proof of your child’s age, as MECK Pre-K is designed for children who are four years old.
You’ll also need to fill out an application form (online or in-person) and provide proof of your child’s age and name. You can do this by providing a birth certificate, passport, or another accepted document listed on our enrollment page. You will need to provide proof of your own identity as well with some type of government ID. This could be a passport, a state-issued driver’s license, etc.
Proof of Mecklenburg County Residency is also required, as this program is only available to those living in the area. You can prove your residency with a residential lease, a utility bill, bank statement, payroll stub, or something similar dated within the past 30 days. Finally, you’ll need to provide immunization records and health information if your child has a diagnosed developmental or chronic health issue. Please note that you’ll also need to provide a physical for your child that was performed within the last year. These medical documents must be submitted 30 days before the start of the school year.
