After submitting your application, MECK Pre-K will contact you to schedule an appointment for us to meet in person to complete the enrollment process. 

You’ll also be able to ask questions about the program and learn more around how your child will benefit from a Pre-K education.¬†

Confirm Enrollment

Families will be notified once they are officially enrolled in MECK Pre-K!

To apply for the 2019-20 school year your child must be age 4 on or before August 31, 2019 and live in Mecklenburg county.  

The following documents are required for enrollment:

2019-2020 MECK Pre-K Student Application

Fill out an application for your 4-Year-Old Mecklenburg County child. If you need help with the application process please contact us at 704-943-9585.

Proof of date of birth and legal name

  • Original or Photocopy of Birth Certificate
  • ¬† Passport
  • ¬† State-Issued Identification Document
  • ¬† US Department of State (I-94 Arrival/Departure Record)
  • ¬†Refugee Resettlement Letter (Local sponsoring agency, US Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Refugee Resettlement)*
  • Decree of Adoption
  • Student‚Äôs Driver‚Äôs License
  • Life Insurance Policy
  • A certified copy of any medical record of the child‚Äôs birth issued by the treating physician or the hospital in which the child was born
  • A certified copy of a birth certificate issued by a church, mosque, temple, or other religious institution that maintains birth records of its members
  • Previously verified school record

Current Proof of Mecklenburg County Residency

ONE (1) of the following documents must be shown:

  • Copy of residential deed¬†OR¬†record of most recent residential mortgage statement
  • Notarized Residency Affidavit¬†AND¬†copy of mortgage statement, deed or lease¬†from homeowner/leaseholder affirming tenancy
  • Copy of residential lease
  • HUD closing statement

AND

ONE (1) of the following documents must be shown:

  • Any¬†ONE¬†utility bill or work order dated within the past 30 days, including: gas, water, electric, telephone,¬†OR¬†cable
  • Valid North Carolina Driver‚Äôs License¬†OR¬†Valid North Carolina Identification Card
  • Dated within the past 30 days: Payroll Stub, Bank Statement¬†OR¬†Credit Card Statement
  • Current Vehicle Registration
  • Dated within the past year: Vehicle Tax Bill, Property Tax Bill, W-2¬†OR¬†Medicaid Card

OR

ONE (1) of the following documents must be shown:

  • Letter from approved agency (group home)
  • Refugee resettlement letter
  • Copy of Charlotte Housing Authority lease

These documents are for address verification and must reflect the current address for enrollment or change of address.  Mecklenburg Partnership for Children has an appeal process for families who have difficulty verifying proof of residency, so students can be enrolled without unnecessary delay. This residency policy does not apply to homeless students, as defined by the McKinney-Vento Act.

Proof of ALL Current Household Income

  • 2¬†Consecutive pay stubs (within past 60 days)
  • Tax returns
  • W-2 OR 1099
  • Unemployment or Disability statement
  • Child support
  • SS/SSI benefit letter
  • Letter from employer
  • If there is no source of household income, please have the relative or friend providing financial support write a detailed letter including the amount of assistance provided.

Documents required by the 30th day of school

· Current Immunization record
· Health Assessments for all new Pre-K students
